NW El Khorbat
Morocco
50 km east of Tinghir, in the lower Todra Valley, El Khorbat (pronounced El Jorbat) is an ancient ksar, a fortified earth village, built in the mid-19th century and recently restored thanks to international cooperation.
Half of the houses in El Khorbat are still inhabited. Others have been rehabilitated for various purposes, including accommodation for travelers, a museum, and a women's craft workshop.
The goal is to use ecotourism to safeguard a priceless historical and artistic heritage: the earth kasbahs.
